Assets Browser Does Not Show Up In Inventor

Hi,

I have Inventor 2019 and Factory Design Utilities installed on my computer.

The problem is when I open Inventor 2019 and try to access the Assets Browser in the Factory tab nothing is showing up on the screen. I had Inventor 2019 and Factory Design Utilities installed on another machine some time ago and everything was working completely fine, i.e. when I pressed on the Assets Browser in Inventor 2019, it showed up every time.

Just to mention that I do not have AUTOCAD or NAVISWORKS installed, it is just Inventor I have installed on my computer now.

I am not sure if I must install AUTOCAD and NAVISHWORKS prior to installing Factory Design Utilities.

I have student license for the applications I mention in this post.

I have Factory Design Utilities course at university and first task is to try too build some simple layout of a factory in Inventor 2019.

Any idea why the Assets Browser does not show up in Inventor 2019?

Hi there,
It is difficult to diagnose this based on the info here. As a general comment, the Factory Asset Browser shows up only when you are working on a Factory layout.
Did you start by creating a layout? Could you record a video of your workflow? https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast

First, you don't need AutoCAD or Navisworks installed. Inventor Factory should operate just fine on its own.

As Oleg mentioned, it would be easier to diagnose with a video. But let's look at a couple of things.

Is Factory loaded. Is there a "Factory" tab present in your ribbon?
Assuming that tab is present and you have a file open, is the first item in the Factory tab of your ribbon the "Palettes" item or the "Asset Builder" item? If it's the latter, you are not working in a Factory layout. If it's the former, you are.
If you are in a Factory layout, can I assume then that you clicked the "Asset Browser" item there under "Palettes"?
If that's not working, maybe the browser is hidden or is shrunk so small that it's barely detectable?
If you click the "Asset Browser" item a few more times, do you notice anything moving or flashing? I ask because clicking that item when the browser is already visible will pop it to the foreground. So if it's shrunk very small you might see some movement.
Still nothing? You might try a ribbon reset which is kind of a nuclear option. You can find that by right clicking the ribbon and hitting the "Ribbon Appearance" item.

Hi,

Thank you for your response.

Well, I have the Factory Tab on the ribbon and it is the first tab I have.

The first item in the Factory Tab is the Palettes item.

When I press on the Palettes item, a menu pops up on the bottom and I press on Assets Browser there. Nothing is showing up in the end which is weird.

I pressed multiple times on the Assets Browser but nothing seems to happen.

Another weird occurrence is that I cannot connect to the cloud, I click multiple times the Refresh button but no connection is established, I have Internet connection.

I will try to do a video in next days of the week since my computer is not with me now.

Could it be that the library for the Assets Browser is not defined somewhere in Inventor?

What would you suggest to do now?

Please follow these steps to gather some diagnostic info for us:
1. Close all CAD programs that may be running
2. Create a file named ADSKFactoryDiagnostics.txt in %temp% (you can type %temp% into Windows Explorer and hit enter to find this directory on your machine)
3. Reproduce the issue
4. Close CADs
5. Gather files named ADSKFactoryDiagnostics-*.txt from your %temp% directory and share them with us
6. Delete files named ADSKFactoryDiagnostics*.txt from %temp%

Hi,

I did everything as you suggested above but I have no files named ADSKFactoryDiagnostics-*.txt in the %temp% directory.

And there is nothing in the files that I created - ADSKFactoryDiagnostics.txt.

I reinstalled Inventor Professional 2019 and Factory Design Utilities 2019 on my computer but still the same issue.

It is very confusing why it does not work since before, perhaps a year or two ago, it worked perfectly fine with the Inventor and Factory Design Utilities.

Could it be that I have to do an update or something else to get the most recent content from Autodesk?

That's weird.
Depending on Windows settings, it may be hiding file extensions from you. Did you create ADSKFactoryDiagnostics.txt or ADSKFactoryDiagnostics.txt.txt ?

Hi,

Thank you for your response and help.

I think I made a mistake since in the Windows Explorer the file name was ADSKFactoryAnalytics.txt which, according to me means that the file is ADSKFactoryAnalytics.txt.txt.

I did the procedure again by creating a new file and then I started Inventor 2019 and pressed couple of time on the Palettes item and then on the Assets Browser item on the drop down menu.

I got these two files that I think are relevant to the issue that I struggle with.

You can find the files attached.

I have not deleted them from the %temp% directory yet.

I reread your comments, and am a little confused. You said that you can't open the Asset Browser. You also said that "I cannot connect to the cloud, I click multiple times the Refresh button but no connection is established,"
Where are you clicking the Refresh button?

Hi,

I apologize for misleading you.

I clicked the Refresh Button in AUTOCAD Architecture on my computer at work.

The Assets Browser shows up in AUTOCAD Architecture and I can import a layout from AUTOCAD Architecture into Inventor 2019 and all the assets that I placed in AUTOCAD Architecture are showing up in Inventor 2019 after the import.

I will install the hotfixes tomorrow and let you know the result.

Anything useful from the diagnostic files that I gathered from the %temp% folder?

Hi,

I installed the following updates for Factory Design Utilities - FDU Update 1.1 and then tried to access the Assets Browser but still no success, then I installed FDU Uodate 1.3 and tried again to access the Assets Browser but still nothing is showing up.

I installed both updates from the Autodesk Desktop App.

I attached the same files from the %temp% folder as before perhaps to diagnose something.

Should I also update Inventor 2019? I have an update for Inventor 2019 with a version of 4.9.

EDIT: I installed update 2019.4.9 for Inventor 2019 as well but still no success to access the Assets Browser.

I also attached the new file(118580), after the installaton of the update.

Let's separate the problems:
1. Access to cloud assets. Once you install the latest FDU updated in ACAD, I'd expect you to see cloud assets. Do you?
2. Asset Browser in Inventor: do install all Inventor updates. I don't think this is the root cause, but better rule this out
a. I am wondering if the Asset Browser is opening, but somewhere "off screen". Did you use multiple monitors before or anything like that?

Hi,

I have made a successful attempt to reach the Assets Browser.

I think the problem was not only the updates. In my opinion, the updates that I installed perhaps helped the Assets Browser to show up in the end as well as the updates are required to get access to the Cloud Assets so the updates can be taken as part of the problem to some extent.

It was also kind of my mistake that I did not see where the Assets Browser was showing up all the times I pressed on it.

In the end, the Assets Browser was hiding behind the window with the Factory Properties tab. When I moved the Factory Properties window away, the Assets Browser showed up, it was just behind this window.

I also got connected to the Cloud Assets and I can perfectly download any assets I want. This happened after installing the last updates for Factory Design Utilities for Inventor 2019 and AUTOCAD 2019.
