Could you illustrate more on your workflow for this? It should be using canvas as default for Fusion sync.

Hi there

I work with the newest Version of EAGLE (9.6) to create my boards. After that I transfer the 3D Data to FUSION by activating the FUSION360 Tab at the right to PUSH to FUSION360. this works fine but now I found myself disconnected from the FUSION360 model in EAGLE altough yesterday at end of work the connection was working really fine. Now I have the create a new link or pull from FUSION which ist not what I want. If I have nothing changed in FUSION there should not be a need the recreate a existing link and PULL the design from FUSION360.

I think the link should not be lost.

Regards, Harald

PS: At the moment this is not a problem because the FUSION part is not used in assemblies. but then one might run into problems.

Is there anything you can recall that might have broken that link?

Hi

Yes. the board is still existing in FUSION360 but relinking forces me to PULL in from FUSION360 and therefore I have a lot of holes or whatever extra in my design in EAGLE. That is really annoying if I made some position chnages in my EAGLE layout because this PULL added some holes existing in FUSION360 but not anymore in EAGLE and brings some confusion. Therefore I have to create a new link to FUSION which breaks my links into the assembly and that is also anoying. Now i but my whole project from the NAS drive on SAMBA to my local directory. In fact a OWNCLOUD link and check if something is changeing. I hope and than I have a work around but still confused about that. maybe there is a problem in our SAMBA settings. I do not know. But all other programms are working well.

Have a nice day, stay healthy and regards, harald

Hi

Seems to be really a serious issue. Yesterday I transfered all my projects to a local drive on my home computer. After that a tried the connection between EAGLE and FUSION360. Failed to find the ready made link and told me I have to decide I want to use an existing design or new. I choose existing design and had to PULL the design from FUSION360. What I got was a real mess. All directions of the layers were confused and the layout was unuseable. I reloaded from backup and tried with new design. That worked fine but as I thought I had to change my assembly for the newly created model. that is also not good. As far as I do not close EAGLE or FUSION360 the link is working, as far. But shuting down the computer, reetablish the VPN link or only start EAGLE in case I have my files local, breaks the link.

this by the best is not a wonderful enviroment to work in.

What info you need to be able to work on this issue.

Regards, Harald.

I realised this behavior after updating to EAGLE 9.6.0. I am not sure if it is away in the older version, but I can try.

Hi

I checked the EAGLE 9.5.2 version and there is no problem like described. If I try out designs originally created with 9.5.2 I see that everything is fine with the connection between EAGLE 9.5.2 and FUSION360. The board layout tells me immeditly that i have not to synchronize between EAGLE and FUSION. The Link is no problem. Switching to 9.6.0 the problem is here again.

Is it possible to go back to EAGLE 9.5.2 from a design created with EAGLE 9.6.0?

regards, harald

Sorry. Still a big problem. Why no answer? As I said. I work from home via VPN to my enterprise server and everytime I close the VPN connection and shut down my computer the next startup to work results in losing my connection between my EAGLE design and the component in FUSION360. I have to delete my FUSION360 component file and rebuild it from scratch from EAGLE. This is boring for using the component in an assembly because it is hard, by the best, to get rid of the component version. Maybe it is some problem with the fact that I always get a new TCP IP for a new VPN connection.

Please let me know what I can do to solve this.

Regards, harald

@jorge_garcia

Yes I can be the only one. Sure. So. I describe the homeworking setup I have.

First of all my home internet connectionis via ADSL and uses internally 10.0.0.xx adresses which are matched outside to an permanent IP. With this I am using my VPN (CISCO) for opening a channel to my enterprise server (SAMBA) which is password secured. Then I have to enter my domain credentials in on of the mounted drives to get connection to my data. This I have to do everytime I setup my VPN.

IN EAGLE than all seems to be right, I get my connection to AUTODESK. But trying to synchronise my project between EAGLE and FUSION360 fails. So far as I see only if I disconnect the VPN connection for longer time. A reconnect after a failure in the connection does not give me this problem. I am not really sure but yes it seems like this.

Trying after disconnect and shutdown leaves me without connection.

Regards, harald.

Just confirming that this is regularly happening with me also.

I'm using Eagle 9.6.1 and whatever the current Fusion 360 is, checking that I'm online for both.

It's a pity - I really like the electromechanical workflow. I'd imported a manufacture's 3D enclosure model into Fusion, used that to generate a PCB outline and holes which I then imported into Eagle. Then used Eagle to push to a new PCB project in Fusion, which I then linked into the enclosure project. Saw I needed to move some connectors, did that in Fusion, pull into Eagle, push back, update the link and all looks great. Very nice - when it works.

But - regularly (pretty much every day), Eagle "forgets" about the link. I have to go back and link to an existing project. Luckily that generally works (didn't this morning, but worked again after restarting Eagle), so no need to make a new Fusion project. Still annoying.

And I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with this issue.

Hi Harald,

I've had the problem again, in just the last few hours. I think the key is to keep Eagle running, don't exit if I'm going to work on something else. The Fusion link seems to go missing when Eagle is newly started.

My connection is Ethernet to a local router, then 50 Mbps Internet. No VPN.

Regards,

David

Yes. I see the same behaviour. I can work on my FUSION360 assembly with existing link between EAGLE and FUSION until I shutdown EAGLE und my computer. The next try there is no existing link anymore which breaks all my connection into the assembly. Anoying. @jorge_garcia I think that has to be invesigated.

Regards, harald
