Hi Thanks for response ... yes thats what I want to do ... so do I do it in the schematic or when I select board layout.. or does it matter ...

Regards john

Hi, I am quite confident on schematics but not on the board layout ... I am designing a board roughly A4 size 280 x 180 mm and I am mounting 24 bi-colour LEDs and 14 push buttons ... all these have to line up with a pre-routed perspex panel ... I also have an Arduino Nano on this board but due to thickness I want to mount on solder side so I somehow have to invert the pins or it will connect incorrectly ...is there a way of doing this like an invert or flip command ... the Eagle version I am using is Eagle 8.0.1 premium..

Regards John

As I understand it, you just want to mount the module on the bottom side of the board, yes?

The Eagle command for flipping to the other side is called "mirror". That should do everything you need for the component to be on the bottom.

In the board.

Mirroring (or selection of which side of the board) is a geometric consideration. It's purely related to physical construction and not functionality. It's merely an aspect of component placement, which is why it's also available from the middle mouse button during a "MOVE" operation. All these things should tell you that you do it in the board editor, not the schematic.

The mirror command is available in the schematic editor but its function there is to allow you to show gates (or op-amps, transistors, etc.) flowing right-to-left instead of left-to-right. That has not bearing on the physical layout of the board any more than moving your resistors symbols into a line on the schematic would.
