I'm working on a complex 8-layer design now so I tested this with 9.6.1. I group-selected about 50 parts, group-move, selected sheet 2 and the group of parts shows on sheet 2 as expected. I clicked and they were placed on the sheet. I repeated in reverse by re-grouping and moving them back to sheet 1, works fine here.

One thing you can try.... group the parts then select COPY, right click on schematic and select Copy Group

Select the other sheet then PASTE.

If that works go back and remove the parts off the other sheet and move on. It's probably impossible to easily find the issue since it can't be re-produced.

If not working you've probably got some bug somewhere in your .sch file. Try viewing the .sch in a text editor and something might be obviously wrong. This will obviously take time and you'll need to be familiar with the format of the commands etc. If nothing is obvious you could select some lines of the .sch file and copy them to a new txt file thus creating the file by hand, in small sections. Maybe copy 500 lines at a time, save the new file and test each time. Or copy the first half of the file then load into Eagle and see if the group move works. If yes your problem is in the 2nd half. So copy half of the 2nd half (i.e. 3rd quarter), paste that into the file and check with Eagle. i.e. divide and conquer. Keep dividing the remaining text, pasting and testing until you find the section that causes the crash then inspect it very closely with a text editor. It could be something as simple as a missing end quote " or > or /> or something similar.

Another way is delete large sections of your schematic (obviously using a temp copy of the .sch file) and then try the group move. If if works reload the file and delete a different section of the schematic then group move the remaining parts. Again keep going until it works or doesn't work then back-track to find the parts that are causing the crash. Once you find them look at the .sch in a text editor and see if anything looks suspect.

btw, before doing any of that, if you can group-move some parts but not others that points to the parts being moved that have some errors in the .sch file so you can just look at those parts in the .sch file in a text editor and see if anything sticks out as wrong.

Using both Windows 10 & Ubuntu 18LTS, I reliably get a crash when trying to move a group of components from sheet 2 to sheet 1.

1) Group-select & group-move the schematic elements (I can drag them within sheet 2)

2) Click on sheet 1, the parts do not appear, but I can still move / zoom for a moment

3) Hard crash with a seg fault.

This workflow is very important when importing an eagle-drawing into a new file as every imported file is put onto a new sheet (which is often not desired).

Hi @trent.gill6Q2M9 ,

I hope you're doing well. I can't reproduce this, if you try with a different design can you still reproduce it? I have a feeling it might be unique to this specific design. Try with a different file. That might help us narrow this down.

Where are you "clicking on sheet 1"? There was an old thread on here where somebody was using the design manager to select a sheet and getting a similar crash. The fix, for them, was to ignore the DM and instead click on the sheet thumbnail in the older part of the GUI.

Another thing we usually recommend whenever something like this happens is to select the whole design and then copy that into a new set of blank files. What usually happens is that any imperfections embedded in the file aren't selectable so this copy past procedure will take care of it.

This IS the solution. Moving across sheets functions, if you select the sheets via "Sheets" tab, but crashes when switching via the "Design Manager".

For sure this is a Bug. But since Eagle was abandoned, we got to live with it.
