CAM Files won't generate

I moved my design files from Program Files to my user directory and got the drill legend to work. Now I am getting an error on the CAM files. I am running RS-274x because I only have two layers and only have components on the top layer. I get an error message that two signal levels are active, and it doesn't generate the gerbers. What am I doing wrong?

Hi @Anonymous,

In it's default state the cam processor is not usable. See the procedure below:

2 Sided Board: Components only on Top
Gerber Generation:
>From the Board Editor:
1- Click on the CAM Process Icon
2- In the CAM Processor click on File/Open/Job and select the CAM Job called Gerber_274X.Cam.
3- Click on Process Job
4- Click on File/Open/Job and select EXCELLON.CAM
5- Click on Process Job.
6- All the files will be located in your board directory with the same name of the board with different extensions:

.CMP Component Side Copper   Top - Pad - Via
.SOL Solder Side Copper      Bottom - Pad - Via
.PLC Top Silk Screen         Dimension - TPlace - TName
.STC Top Solder Mask         TStop
.STS Bottom Solder Mask      BStop

DRD Excellon Drill file.    Drills - Holes

Displaying net names on pads

I find this option really useful in other CAD programs, but I can't find where to turn on display of net names on pads in Eagle. I can get the pad names, but not the net names.

Hello bcarterW8DV4,

Thank you for your participation. In any of the editors go Options > Set > Misc. tab. Make sure "Display signal names on pads" is checked and then click OK.

That should take care of it.

That option does not appear in the menu. Only display pad name option, which I checked. Could this have something to do with me using version 6.5?

Hi bcarterW8DV4,

That has everything to do with it. These features were implemented in V7.7 of EAGLE so they didn't exist when V6.5 was created. That's why you don't have those options.

If you have a V7 license then I would encourage you to update to V7.7 the last release of EAGLE with perpetual licensing.

i trying to generate drill file .but it isnt work only .dri file is generated..pls help me

Hello @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. Double check the folder where the gerber files and your excellon file. Windows will often hide extensions, so look carefully your .drd file is likely there. Additionally double check what extensions your CAM job is using. It could be the case that another extension is being used.

i trieed this one also..but didnt getting .drd file..i also checked in gerber view not generated..

This was helpful, but it didn't seem quite up to date with 8.6.3. It would be great if you could post more exact instructions for generating 2-layer board artwork in 8.6.3, RS-274X with excellon drill drawing.

I was able to wander thru it, but the path I took wasn't straightforward, and it was probably harder than in had to be.

A straightforward process would be great...By the way...I use PCBWAY for most of my board fab, if that's useful to know in making the process.
