Hi ccbar,

As you've noticed, any attribute set in a library will get updated. There is a way to use the value attribute for specified part technologies, while keeping a general part version that will not overwrite the value.

If you look in my RCL library, the Value attribute is specified, but only setup for the technologies with specific part numbers.

The default technology part does not set the value attribute and is used as a placeholder until I add in the new technology. Then I use the "change technology" or "Replace" command to swap out the general part with the specific one when it gets defined.

That way I can place a default part, modify the value and it won't get over written. Then if I change the technology to a specific part number, the value will get updated accordingly.

If you'd like to see how I have it setup, you can download my library from HERE.

If this helps you understand more how Eagle handles libraries and solves your question, please accept this solution.

Happy Friday & Best Regards,

Hi there. Did you make the library where one capacitor electrode is substantially biger than the other? Please have a look at it before it drives someone insane (I'm not using it, just saying).

Huh? I'm not understanding what you're talking about.
Are you talking about a component inside my RCL library? If so which one, I'll look it over.
