What options are available for exporting 3D step files?

Are those only via 3rd party software, or is there a way to export directly into fusion 360?

Hi Shayo79,

Thanks for registering and participating on the EAGLE forum. This will change soon, but for now the best way to export your EAGLE file is to visit ecad.io, which is a Autodesk Site, and upload your EAGLE. Many parts will automatically map to 3D components some you will have to manually map. The process is fairly simple.

After mapping out all the parts, you will be able to render the entire design in STEP file format.

We did demo a while ago, but the STEPS have not changed much.

Hi,

I am in a similar position: We work with Eagle as ECAD but my colleagues work with Solidworks for MCAD.

I am looking for a way to 3D export my design so the MCAD team can use it for enclosure design.

MCAD people switching to Fusion is not an option on the table right now.

ecad.io is not an option either because it does not import the 3D models from the .brd, so they have to be re-uploaded and realigned 😐
On top of that, the website claims "On August 25th, ECAD.io goes offline" 😐

So... Is buying Fusion 360 and use it just as a 3D export plugin for Eagle the only option?

Hello,

I don't know what, if anything, is being worked on to be able to provide a completely free path to export STEP files to get to other MCAD tools, that's one for Autodesk to answer, but you don't need a full Fusion 360 license in order to get the STEP file. You can use Fusion Team which is a cheaper option and allows you to view/share the 3D model of your board and export it into a dozen (currently) different formats. Here is the link to Fusion Team.

This actually might be an acceptable compromise, get the Fusion Team instead of the Fusion 360 subscription.

I have started the trial and looks like it will enable me to export my Eagle designs.

However, I cannot find the pricing for it. 😐

Looks like "Fusion Team hub" is called "A360 Team" in my Autodesk product management page.

I can see that it is around 120USD/yr but I cannot see it in the German website (my company is Germany based) 😐
Is it not available as subscription here? Is this a product&market segmentation pitfall?

Can someone from Autodesk help, please?

I don't think there is an issue but maybe @RichardHammerl help you sort this out as he's based in Germany.

Ah right ok! I didn't try clicking that before, yes it seems to take you over to the US site....
