IPC-2581

I have been using Cadsoft/Autodsk Eagle for quite some time and have had very few issues. However, recently, my preferred local board assembly house has been requesting IPC-2581 ASCII design files in addition to the usual Gerbers, netlist and BoM files. I have not been able to find any information about IPC-2581 support on the Autodesk website and a call to the Cadsoft support desk confirmed that there is nonsupport for that standard in the current version. Are there plans to include support for IPC-2581 in a future release of Eagle? The ability to supply IPC-2581 files significantly reduces the engineering costs for assembly at my preferred vendor. Thanks, Colin

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. There are plans to support this and ODB++ in the near future but I don't have an exact time line at this moment. There is a lot going on right now but keep your eyes peeled.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hi Jorge: Thanks for the update. I hope Autodesk will publish the IPC-2581 feature when it is released, perhaps in the newsletters. It would be great if we could know the timeline at some point. Best regards, Colin

I'm in the same boat, and am disappointed that there doesn't appear to have been progress on this in the last 2 years.

-Adrian
