When I try to run a ULP, one that I have used a dozen times before without issue, is giving me an error message.

Specifically, a small popup occurring right after I execute a ULP - That has Error at the top, and Can't find 'C:\Users\Steve.scr', with an OK and Cancel box.

I've reinstalled Eagle a half dozen times, with no change in this error.

Furthermore, Windows 10 won't let anybody keep a file in the C\Users\directory. (so I can't change a default SCR file to Steve.scr)

Secondly, there are no users by the name of Steve.

Thirdly, the script I am running is on a different hard drive, and always have been, with no such filename in any folder I have.

Can you please tell me how to get Eagle to stop referencing this erroneous file/location. Does anyone care to provide me with a default eagle SCR file and a means to set this as the file to be referenced?

Thanks!

Hi Steve,

I hope you're doing well. Which ULP are you running? The issue probably lies with the ULP. Every ULP that writes a script has to determine where the script should be saved. This is especially tricky if the script is meant to run without user intervention.

The best practice approach is to have the script written into the same location where the board and schematic are. Not all ULP writers do this, which can lead to scripts being written to locations where they are not allowed.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hi technosteve,

Thanks for letting me know it's in a Dropbox folder, could you try copying the file locally and then running the ULP. It seems that the import-bmp.ulp can't handle being run from a Dropbox folder(like I said earlier everyone implements the script generation differently). Please let me know if it works locally.

This brings up the need of a best practices definition for ULPs that generate scripts that need to be run on exit.

Please let me know if you continue to run into issues.

Best Regards,
