Hello all,

Is there any way to run a CAM job in "headless mode" through the command line arguments?

I understand that the -X brings up the CAM processor dialog, but I would like to load a specific file and hit the run button automatically.

Thank you for your answers in advance!

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're having a great day. I was trying to copy directly from the manual, but for some reason the PDF isn't letting me copy. Check section 10.3 of the EAGLE manual pg 327. It actually has examples on creating gerber files from the command line.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Best Regards,

Hello Jorge,

We might misunderstood each other. The CAM processor has the ability to save a configuration to a *.cam file (called CAM job in the terminology I think). I would like to execute the contents of a *.cam file from a single command line command line call.

By looking through the cam file structure it would be straightforward to generate the command line parameters for each CAM task in the job, but I would still consider that approach a hack, because there should be a way to execute a *.cam file directly from command line.

I would still greatly appreciate a "yes it is possible"/"no it is not possible" answer to my question.

BTW this question was asked 8 years ago back in 2009:

http://eagle.userchat.eng.narkive.com/xNZ1U1vG/automated-release-script#post3

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. At this point in time the only solution is the one that has been mentioned and is in the manual, the "hack" approach as you referred to it.

There is no way to run the CAM processor with a CAM job from the command line currently. However I will bring this up to the devs since I do agree that this should be possible without having to make a call for each file.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hello @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. I don't have any news on this front other than the CAM processor has now been taken over by a different developer whose main focus right now is fixing issues with the current implementation. Once those are resolved then we will look into new functionality.

I'll ping him on this thread that way he is aware of your request.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,
