Hello Burak,

Of course it's possible. Thank you for taking the time to write it, I know other users appreciate the work you have put in to it.

I'll be sending you a DM. We will have to test internally and make sure we feel comfortable with including it but if all that checks out there shouldn't be a problem.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Do you know what input formats their tools support natively?

I just went onto their site and tried to download the application brief which might have given me this info and I need to give them my details for them to email me the link (and thereby subject myself to their sales people harassing me!) so I can't read it. I hate companies that do that. If they have confidence in their product there should be no need to resort to extracting peoples contact details in order to get basic information. Anyway, I digress...

SiWave supports ODB++, IPC2581, Ansys Neutral Format (ANF), DXF, GDSII. ULP to export in ANF format should solve the problem. There is an ULP to export Mentor Hyperlynx, but no ULP is present for SiWave. They should be similar but different format.

Burak

I'd suggest from that list the ideal (and correct) option would be if Autodesk could implement ODB++ or IPC2581 output in EAGLE. ODB++ has been on the request list for a very long time (since way before Autodesk bought EAGLE), I hope it's on the implement list now as they have a lot more resources...

In the absence of ODB++ or IPC2581 then you are right, ULP would be a reasonable interim solution but I don't know of anything that exists already. Is there a specification available for the Ansys Neutral Format?

I could not find the ANF format reference manual. I did some reverse engineering and found a way to define layers and padstacks. But there is much work to be done. If there is somebody to work on this ULP, I can share my findings.

Burak

Hi Burak,

Thanks for posting on our forums. Rachael is right, the ideal solution would be ODB++ or IPC2581. Those are on the roadmap, but are not available yet. For now I really think your best option is to export DXF files from EAGLE and then go from there.

That option is in EAGLE today and it's simpler than writing a brand new ULP.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hi all,

I just came across this old thread but thought I'd respond even though it came out in 2017.

We (ANSYS) released support for Autodesk Eagle into ANSYS , Icepak, HFSS 3D Layout, and Mechanical earlier this year (~Jan 2018) using the Gerber export from Autodesk Eagle. SIwave can import the Electronics Database created by HFSS 3D Layout.

We (ANSYS) actively test and QA this solution and it works well. Feel free to reach out to me or your ANSYS support team to learn more. Essentially the process is as follows:

1. Export Gerber from Autodesk Eagle with drill/vias (use RS-274X)

2. Open ANSYS Electronics Desktop

3. File -> Import -> Gerber -> point to a .zip file or directory containing the exported Gerber files.

4. Ensure use laminate stack up button is checked and the stack up layers and associations are correct

5. Import

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Steve
