Eagle right for my Gerber needs?

I am looking for a program that outputs gerber RS274-x files that is compatible with our autocad 2018 LT.

More specifically I am looking to do the following:

Create a file with designated layers in AutoCAD
Import the file into a gerber conversion program
Assign apertures / line weights to the layers
Export specific layers in a RS274-x formatted gerber file

Is Eagle the right tool for this?

Hello @Anonymous,

EAGLE can do all of this on it's own. I don't see the need to use AutoCAD here. However, if you already have the design data in AutoCAD your best option is to export each layer as it's own DXF file. Those could be imported into EAGLE and then from there you would export the gerbers.

How do I import in the free version? I am not seeing an option for this.
