I'm still curious to know how I'm supposed to use the part straight out of the Eagle library but now I have more questions.

If anyone can point me to a good tutorial on how to use variants I obviously need it.

In order to move ahead I right clicked the part in the schematic and copied to my library.

It created a mounting hole device with 10 different packages for hole size variants.

Each package had a 3d package with a default box shape model in it.

The edit option was not available when right clicking any of the 3d packages.

I duplicated the device, duplicated the 3,0 package, deleted all the variants from the device, and added in the new 3mm package, created new version under the library menu, a new 3mm 3d package was created, and I could right click and edit and remove the default model.

I'm trying to put three 3mm mounting holes on the board layout I'm working on right now.

All the rest of the parts on this board are from my personal managed library and have 3d packages.

I added the 3,0 part from the holes.lbr in the eagle managed library to my board and pushed to fusion360.

In fusion 360 it shows a red or black box default model covering up each hole.

Close that out go back to eagle, right click and select edit 3d model, fork and replace with editable version, remove model, hole is exposed and everything looks good, click to save, click ok on description, ut oh where did Eagle go. I launch eagle and I'm back to having the default model box covering my holes.

How do I use this part without getting stuck with the box?
