How do you prevent the tool from placing the default red blocks on your board when you push to fusion without a 3d model? Is it possible to remove them or prevent this from happening?

The particular case here is that I have a header on the board that will not be loaded, but my models have all those boxes. It is very important I see the header holes because this PCB mates up to another PCB.

Thanks!

Hi @m3atwad,

I hope you're doing well. Currently, there is no way to avoid that rectangle being automatically created when you push to fusion without a 3D model. We are working on a way to OK that from within EAGLE or some other mechanism for saying that a given component doesn't need a 3D model.

For now what you can do is once the board is in Fusion360 just turn off the rectangle. Look at the browser on the left side. Click the lightbulb for the rectangle you don't want to see.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hi Jorge,

is it possible to avoid the rectangles in Devices with 3D-Model?

For example: I have a CE-Logo (Polygon, Layer tDocu) Device without any Pads, the 3D-Modell is the CE-Logo with a height of 0.05 mm.

In Drawings i have to deselect this annoying red boxes every time, because they overlap the 3D-Model.

Thanks für your help!

Best Regards,

Alen

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. What you can do is change the default model in the managed library to have XYZ dimensions of 0,0,0 this eliminates the default rectangle. It's a bit of a workaround but it solves the issue.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hi Scott,

When you go to the edit package view, in the dialog where you can reposition a model, you can also set the size parameters SizeX, SizeY, and SizeZ as shown below:

Set all these to 0 and the red boxes will go away. It is just a work around and a bit of a faff to have to do so hopefully there will be some improvements here. I'd like to see being able to add an attribute to certain parts to tell it the part is not for Fusion 360, a bit like the _EXTERNAL_ attribute in the schematic stops a part having a footprint in the board. This way it can be easily built into library parts to show they are not intended to also have a 3D model. I can't imagine this would be hard to achieve. Currently as soon as I add all my title blocks to my board ready to generate all my manufacturing drawings I then get massive title block sized red blocks all over my 3D board models if I need to push to Fusion 360 again which is a pain as it also adjusts the scaling of the view in Fusion360.

Best Regards,

Rachael

Ah, hadn't noticed those before. Either they're new, or I have tunnel vision! Thank you, this should solve the problem, though I agree that a parameter or a check box to indicate that there is no 3D model would be quicker and more elegant.

Scott
