change xref on not working in schematic editor- could this be a bug???

I'm using eagle 9.1, trying to manually enable the xref functionality.

change xref on

in the command line and it doesn't turn on xrefs.

I also tried putting this:

change xref on;

in my eagle.scr file in the SCH: section, but it doesn't turn on xrefs either.

Am I missing something?

Could this be a bug???

WOW!!! Now xref doesn't work at all!

I even uninstalled eagle 9.0.1 and eagle 9.0.0 completely, and started a new schematic...

After trying to get

change xref on;

to work in my eagle.scr file, and having it not work at all, now I can't get xref to work AT ALL!

I think it might be related to typing:

set xref on

from the command line in an attempt to do what

change xref on

does...

...but I'm not sure.

Anyone else having xref operation problems?

This could be a bug...

I've since discovered that turning xref on and off does make a difference in that when xref is on, the label follows and sticks to the named network trace as expected. What is missing is the flag that is usually drawn around the label...

Is there a way to turn the flag back on?

I hope you're doing well. I can't reproduce what you are seeing, I get the flags. Try this, click Change > Xref > On. Now click on labels on your schematic. Do you see the flags?

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Welcome to the forums! I hope you're doing well. I'm not sure what the issue is in your picture. For the components that don't show the reference designators on the bottom of your image it's possible that the texts were smashed and then accidentally deleted. You can always restore them by using the INFO command and clicking on a component. In the properties dialog go ahead and uncheck smashed and click OK. This will restore the Reference designator and value fields.

Now if after doing this you still don't see them then that means that the issue is in the library and the >NAME and >VALUE place holders need to be added to the part.

Hello Jorge,

The problem is that the cross-reference to each contact is not displayed. I have this problem for several issues. Even if I open an example file (see picture), not the reference but only "string" is displayed.

This problem must has to do with the settings I think, when I open my file on the laptop of my buddies everything is displayed normally.

The xref is on.

Here's the behavior with xref on:

The labels tie to the wire as expected for when xref is on. The only
difference is that *there is no flag around the label.*

I think the issue I'm having might be related to my accidentally having typed:

set xref on

from the command line, in an attempt to do what

change xref on

does...

perhaps "setting" xref to something like "on" does something internally that is causing this as a side-effect???

I did it.

In the last line below the SET command was the wrong parameter. Here were the letters "string" written.

Is there a fix? I get it that it might take a bit to get the correct info re: what xref should be "set" to...

Yes this is a fix. I find out, in the settings was a wrong value.

Instead of "/%S.%C%R" was written "string" I dont no why.

Hi everyone my solution was:

Options > Set... > Misc >

in Xref label format tipe %F%N/%S.%C%R

Instead of having %F%N/%S.%C%R in my case I had a strange! D

I hope this can help you as well
