In previous version I was able to select move then control-left click to move an existing port on a module. With 9.1 move, control-left click on a port will select the entire module and shift it over so the origin is located on my cursor. I can't seem to move an existing port, instead having to delete it then replace it.

Not solved (although you have marked it as such).

What is the timescale on fixing this as it is causing me problems too.

Hopefully not long until we get a V9.1.1!

Hi @Cynthia.MacLeod,

I didn't mark it, I think Mike did. I'll unmark it now. We are looking at 9.2 for this to be fixed. That's the goal. Our next release is supposed to be out this week and this issue is thornier than we originally imagined.

Stay tuned and let me know if there's anything I can do for you.

Best Regards,

It is now fixed in 9.1.2.

Just to note on a mac ( correct me if I am wrong here, cause to me this is a crazy bad UI so I could be wrong):

To change port direction: Click info, hold down command (open apple), click like two pixels from the edge of the module on center of the port, (if you were lucky) port info dialog will pop up. If you got module info, try again.

To delete port: Click delete, hold down command (open apple), click like two pixels from the edge of the module on the center of the port, (if you were lucky) port will delete. if module delete, press command Z and try again.

To move port: Click delete, hold down command (open apple), click like two pixels from the edge of the module on the center of the port, (if you were lucky) port will begin to move. if module moves, press esc, command Z, and try again.

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. The two pixels is really annoying, I don't know if it's exactly two pixels but it is EXTREMELY finicky. This is one of those things that we want to address once we have selection figured out.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Is it true that this has been fixed? I don't see anything in any of the release notes.

I am using 9.2.1 and it just seems to be slightly less broken but still unusable. When trying to select an individual port it will select the entire module still.

Ha, its still terrible and requires trial and error, but you can do it. Refer to my instructions earlier in the feed or use KiCAD cause it works better in that free tool then it does in this tool that requires you to pay every year. Also Kicad Does everything else better except routing round traces (I'm not bitter at all) .

Thanks, I still couldn't get it to work though. I am on windows using control instead of command on a mac, perhaps that is giving me different behavior.

In the end I just went back to Eagle 9.0.

Alright well I opened the project in 9.0 and moved a port, but after saving the files no longer open in the latest version. I get the error shown in the attached image and must close Eagle through the task manager.

So beware!

Just checked and it works in 9.1.2 and 9.2.2

Although it is not obvious that you are moving the port and not the whole module (the whole module highlights but only the port moves).

Use Ctrl+Click at the outside edge of the module where it joins the port line after selecting move.

Is it different behavior than in 9.0 and before? I have no trouble at all selecting/moving ports in those version, but have not once successfully selected/moved ports in later version.

Okay so I have figured this out now.

In later versions you have to continue holding control through the duration of the movement. If at any time you release control, it suddenly changes to having the entire module selected.

Older versions only require control to initially select the port.
