topic Linking 2 boards from Fusion 360 in EAGLE Forum

Hey peeps,

I built a model in Fusion 360 of a project enclosure which contains 2 PCB boards. In Fusion these 2 boards are on separate components, and the components and boards with are all named differently. However, in Eagle when I import the boards, they appear in the Eagle sync dialog with the same name (both say PCB2). At first I thought I could get around this by simply determining which board was which by adding a different component on each, as a test. Oddly though, when pushing the board back to Fusion, the components only ever appear on PCB2.

Can someone please do a test with 2 boards and determine if this is a bug, or something in my setup?

I plan to do another test, but won't have the ability to for a couple of days.

Any help here is greatly appreciated 🙂

Paul

Hi Paul,

I hope you're doing well. Currently this type of workflow is not well supported because in EAGLE you can only have one design per board/schematic pair. The best way to get around this is to have EAGLE sync to a file that contains only the EAGLE board in Fusion. So in your case you would have two separate Fusion designs one for each board.

You can then bring these in as assemblies (I think that's the right term, might be components) into the design with the enclosure. It's not a seamless as I'm sure you would like but it works well. We intend to improve this as the integration between EAGLE and Fusion360 continues to tighten.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Thank you Jorge, that would work. I'm relatively new to Fusion so was forgetting I could use assemblies. 🙂
