Hello world.

After spending about an hour looking through Autodesk youtubes and forum searches I still cannot figure out how to move a surface mount capacitor to the bottom layer? I'm sure it's easy once you know how to do it =P

Thank you thank you thank you.

Michal.

The mirror command moves a component from top to bottom. So you can activate mirror and then select the component (or group) that you want to apply the function to.

A shortcut is to click the middle button of the mouse while moving a component--this will mirror whatever is being moved.

This also works for silkscreen or any other object on one layer of a layer pair.

HTH,

James.

Dear James, thanks for the Solution. I just did it, because I wanted to put all SMD on the bottom layer.

However, after I did the Mirror, I couldn't access the component. In the Top Layer component, you have the "cross" to access the properties of the component. Once I Mirrored the component I lost the "cross", hence I cannot do any operation in the bottom layer.

In the attached png there's a screenshot with part of my board. You can see a couple of Top Layer SMD and some Bottom Layer Mirrored SMD

Options?

Thanks in advance, Alfredo

Check that your layer visibility selection has both tOrigins and bOrigins enabled. The former gives you the pick marks for top side, the latter for bottom.

Thanks guys. I'm sorry for my delay answering your help.

Your suggestions about the layers did the job. In the mean time, I also learned that some layers could be on (visible). Such as bplace (22), borigins (24), bnames (26), bstop (30), bglue (36), and bdocu (52).

Alfredo

What an unfortunate name for a flip side command, mirror. It makes me wonder how you'd mirror something without changing the side of the board it's on.
