Hello,

I couldn't find a way to add sub- and superscripts to letters within eagle schematics.

Is this even possible? If so, how is it done?

Hi @eagleWMB7A,

I hope you're doing well. Unfortunately, there is no mechanism for subscript and superscript in the text command in EAGLE. You can kind of simulate it by using one size of text for the main text and then small text for the subscript or superscript. Then place them however it looks best.

I would encourage you to avoid this on the board since it can result in text that is too small to silkscreen.

Neither of those do really work as I am unable to scale a text with two different settings.

This works fine. You have misunderstood the answer.

Eagle uses a standard fixed font (no truetype fonts etc).

Make some text (for example Hello in size 5mm text)

Now make some more text (for example 123 in size 3mm text i.e. 60% size of the first text)

Now place the Hello text where you want it. Then place the 123 text next to it but up or down a bit.

You can make text any size and put it anywhere. If you have a super/sub script item in the middle of some letters add spaces then place the 2nd text in there after. If it doesn't fit add more spaces or split the word into two pieces and place the text where you want it.

The standard for subscript/superscript is 60% of the standard size and 44% above or below the base line.
