topic File size RS-274X vs X2 in EAGLE Forum

Still using Eagle version 7.7. Our Gerber RS-274X file sizes are huge, and we would like to reduce the size in order to decrease fab processing time. Line width is set. I was informed that the other culprit is Eagle's 274X vectorized output that does not utilize RS-274X poly fill capabilities.

Is there a way to configure Eagle to output RS-274X employing poly fills? Is there a fix in later releases? Would using Gerber X2 reduce file sizes? Does X2 employ poly fill? Bottom-line, would upgrading fix this problem for us?

Check your polygon widths. I recall something to the effect of if the polygon widths are too narrow, it produces huge file size. Also I don't believe polygon width impacts the area being filled as it will follow the center of the line or whatever boundary/ clearance requirement it encounters.

I use a polygon width of 10, it works well and I don't have any problems.
