Hi

I have made a fairly sizable design and i need to make the component values visible on the board layout, when i toggle the top / bottom values in the board layout the values do not become visible.

I'm pretty sure that this needs to be defined in the component library part before adding the components to the design.

Is there a way of making the component values visible on the board layout without having to edit the components in the library and updating every component in the deisgn??

Thanks

Phil

@AutodeskEagleCad wrote:

Add the values in the Schematic.

My guess from the way the question is phrased is that the values are correctly defined in the schematic but are not showing in the board because >VALUE was not added to the tValues layer when the parts were created or alternatively it was added to the wrong layer. Without this there is no way to get the values to show on the silkscreen as there is no placeholder for them on any layer.

Unfortunately Phil, if you haven't included this placeholder on your footprints for your parts then it's not going to show up. If it's on the wrong layer then you should be able to turn that layer on and get the info you need assuming that layer isn't full of other data too.

Best Regards,

Hi Rachael

You are right the values are on the schematic.

It is as I feared i'd have to update the library component and replace the entire lot. Another slightly annoying quirk of Eagle I guess.

It's not a deal breaker, would just be useful as a checking aid.

Cheers
