It sounds like you've set up microvias correctly, but Fusion 360 with Eagle isn't recognizing them as expected. Here are a few things to check and try:

Verify Microvia Support – Ensure your Fusion 360 license supports microvias, as some versions may have restrictions.

Check Layer Stackup – Confirm that microvias are enabled in the layer stack settings and properly defined for your 4-layer board.

Design Rule Settings – Double-check your DRC (Design Rule Check) settings to ensure microvias are allowed within the defined constraints.

Grid and Snapping Issues – Sometimes, microvias don’t register if the grid or snapping settings cause misalignment. Try adjusting the grid size or using finer snapping settings.

Update and Restart – If this behavior is new, check if Fusion 360 or Eagle needs an update. Restarting the software can also help resolve temporary glitches.

Manual Via Placement – Instead of relying on the spacebar shortcut, try manually placing a microvia using the Via tool and specifying the correct layer transition.

If none of these work, it might be a bug in the current version. You could try rolling back to a previous version or reaching out to Autodesk support. Let me know if you need further help! 🚀

Microvias will not place

Hi,

I am currently using full featured Fusion 360 with Eagle. I have an MCU component (nRF 5340) that requires microvia placement to connect pins. In the current version of eagle, microvias don't seem to be working, though I have enabled them. To recap my attemps:

- I am using a 4 layer board, so microvia checks should acknowledge this.

- I have set min. microvia to be smaller than min drill size to enable microvias. Currently micro drill size is 0.35mm, min microvia is 0.1 mm (though smaller and slightly larger sizes also do not work).

- When attempting a microvia, I click on the pad with the router enabled, draw the trace out a short distance, press spacebar to move to the nearest layer, and then move the cursor back over the pad, which should enable the microvia, but nothing happens. Potentially notable, when doing standard vias, the trace doesn't automatically connect to the via, which is newer behaviour for me. This point may not be relevant to microvias, but thought I would mention it.

It seems like I'm doing everything correctly, so I must be missing something. Any assistance and/or workarounds would be greatly welcomed.

Hello @coventry5L8NF ,

I hope you're doing well. First thing to check is what version of EAGLE are you using? Are you on 9.6.2 or something else? I'm also assuming you are using a multi-layer stack up. Traditionally micro-vias go from a surface layer to next layer down. Is that how you have it setup? A screenshot of your layer stackup will be really helpful.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,
