Missing the X,Y,Z, Insertion option

Using 2024 on a VMWare platform. Have two computers on will show and allow a block to be inserted at x, y, z and the other this option is not available. Is this a global setting?

What happens if you type .x for instance at the insertion point prompt?

Those are terrible pictures. Can't you use a screen capture? Windows Snipping Tool or the PrtScn button?

Are both VM's running the same version of AutoCAD?

When it asks for a point, just enter the x y z values separated by commas. However, the X Y Z shown at the command line is for setting different values of scale.

Misunderstood the question. Can you just type X on the command line? What happens?

Are both versions the same build? I'm using 2022 - going to About (from the ? at the top right of the screen) you can see the build number at the top of the box

When you created the block, you checked the Scale Uniformly option. If you select the inserted block and check properties, the Y and Z values will be grayed out. In other words, you are inserting different blocks on each vm.

Yes, true but it is not grayed out it's not their.

And for this assignment, we are not scaling uniformly.

That's what is baffling, It shows up on every other students drawing, except this one Student.

Is it possible he has changed a parameter global?

No, I would say that student with the problem created his block differently from the rest of the students.

If you open the block in the block editor using BEDIT, you can change the block's Scale Uniformly property in the Properties palette.

I agree with Ed - it's possible but not likely the student changed a parameter - I searched and I could not find anything that would control that anyway.

I am the student who is having the issue. I don't think it is the block creation, I believe it has something to do with the fact that I was working in parametric constraints just previous to this and I may have changed a setting inadvertently.

Constraints were showing up in earlier block creations. those also did not have the "x" and "y" options on the command bar.

After you insert the block that doesn't prompt for x y z, right click and select Open in Block Editor. The open the Properties palette and look at the block section. If the Scale Uniformly property says Yes, change it to No.

Ed has it , it was in the initial set up block from the parametric work.

That box remains checked in other new files.
