Dynamic block update dimensions/area

Hi all,

I had a block that I use to indicate cold rooms in the back of house for food shops that we refit.

I want to know if there's a way to modify the block so it's dynamic and can be dragged to expand horizontally/vertically while updating the area and length/width measurements?

Sure. There are at least a couple ways. Add the dynamic parameters/actions to accomplish the desired stretches. Then add attributes for your text and within the attribute definitions add the appropriate fields to reference the parameter values for the width/height. You could also add actual dimensions to the block and stretch them.

Thanks for your help. I've managed to get the dimensions to show and update (by using the dimension method you mentioned second), but seem to be struggling with getting the area.

Could you possibly explain this in a simpler way? I'm a bit of a beginner when it comes to this.

Okay, I have managed to get the width and length dimensions showing and updating when manipulated along either axis. Also added a visibility state to change between sliding and hinged doors.

I've been using the FIELD command to get the area displayed but no matter what I seem to do it doesn't show the correct area?

I've been using the imp.lsp command to check the measurements and it doesn't seem to correlate with any measurement, imperial or metric.

Can anyone explain why this is happening, and point me in the right direction? Thanks.

If you attach the actual block file I could look at it, but the image tells me very little. The issue could be as simple as needing to do a regen after updating the dimensions or it could be an incorrectly set up formula field.

Thanks for getting back to me. I can't seem to attach the block as I'm getting this error message

Correct the highlighted errors and try again.The attachment's coldrooms.dwg content type (application/softgrid-dwg) does not match its file extension and has been removed.

Will see if I can link to it another way...
