I have made this dynamic block for a double and triple paneled bi-fold door but will be making all the way to 8 panes eventually, it is all working kinda. The 2 pane works great, each pane stays the same width. For example if i set the width of the block to 6060mm (30mm frame on each side) each pane will be 3000mm. I have applied the same knowledge to make the 3 pane version, it works, however each pane is a slightly different length when stretching the block. Its only out a few mm over a big span and it wont be noticed on drawings at 1:50/1:100. However because i am a perfectionist i would like them all the same length.

Without testing - I think it is the inaccuracy of the stetch multiplier. Instead of 0.33 try better 0.33333333 or still better 1/3.

Another problem: In the initial 3-panel-version the left panel (where is placed the chained 3 panel parameter) has an other length than the other two panels (the middle and the right one). Do you really want/need this?

In the 3-panel version, the left panel is drawn as 1650 units, the middle panel is drawn as 1680, and the right panel is drawn as 1650.

Thanks for the help. One other thing when imputing a multiplier value within the properties of a parameter is there a way to input fractions, I can only input a decimal up to 4 decimal places "0.3333". even when i input a longer value it rounds to 4 decimal places.

AutoCAD will display a value based on the LUPREC system variable. I just keep LUPREC set to 8 as I don't know of any downside to seeing the precision that is actually used.

@Libbya cheers. My luprec was set to 2, that meant that my precision was 0.00. From j.palmeL29YX first response he said to change my value from 0.33 (I thought i had input 0.3333) to a more precise value or fraction. This explains why he said 0.33 and not 0.3333, which is displayed in the multiplier field. I have changed the luprec to 8, so my value can now be set as 0.33333333, but will only be displayed as 0.3333 in the multiplier field.

Thanks again for the tip

Re: Bi-fold door in plan working kinda

I have changed the luprec to 8, so my value can now be set as 0.33333333, but will only be displayed as 0.3333 in the multiplier field.

You can set a value as 0.3333333, even if LUPREC is 2. You will see 0.33, intern stored is 0.3333333, but that's not equal to 1/3.

For clarifying again:

LUPREC sets the display precision for linear units. Internally, numerical values are always stored with a precision of about 16 significant digits.

Tip:

The easiest way to enter fractions is to use the numerator/denominator notation (if possible). But that only works, if
- numerator and denominator are smaller than 32767
- numerator and denominator are integers (without decimal separator).

Example: 1/25.4 will not work, but 10/254 will work perfect. (I hope you see when you may need that 😉 )
