Hey all,

I've read all over the place that you are not meant to explode dynamic blocks but this is just one of those situations where I don't have the choice.

I have 100's of different dynamic blocks for 100's of different types of houses and I need to explode them. Some of these blocks haves 20 different houses in them and you just pick and choose which one you want and where. When I explode this 1 block it goes from showing 1 house to all 20. Is there a way to explode the block and it to just show what it was already showing instead of it displaying everything else. I am just looking for a quick method because I do not want to go into 100's of different blocks and manually start doing it.

I hope I explained that properly.

Thanks you for your time,

Josh

Is the block annotative?

If it is turn it off and try again.

I have a dynamic block with several visibility states and when I explode it only the current visibility state shows.

Annotative is already set to no. I've added a photo below of 1 of the blocks properties.

It may sound awkward but you can ask someone having access to Revit to import your DWG in a Revit file, then export it back to DWG.

I didn't know that works but unfortunately no one here has revit and as its a work file I am not allowed to share it online...if revit does a free download for students I can get one of the students that work in my company to download it haha...

Maybe this LISP from the Swamp can help Strip Block of Dynamic Properties.

You can also try to save to very old version 2005 and older, because Dynamic Block was first introduced in AutoCAD 2006. I know for sure saving to old DXF format can do this, but you might lose important data in this process. So I would WBLOCK out the dynamic blocks, save the file to old DXF format, then bring the blocks back in.

Depending on the complexity of the block. This may or may not work for you but have you tried opening the block in the block editor switching to the visibility state you want then copy with basepoint CTRL+Shift+C select everything you can see then switching to a blank drawing and paste?

Hi,

I actually don't have this problem. I was just looking for a reason not to explode dynamic blocks when I came across this post. I thought this might be a better solution to the problem of having everything in the block show up when he explodes it.
