Rotating grouped dynamic blocks while keeping labels readable

Hello,

I am needing to create furniture blocks with the descriptive text staying in the same position relative to the rest of the block but still readable regardless of the block’s rotation. I would like to further group similar blocks to toggle visibility to exactly the version I would like.

Here I have different bed sizes. The single also has a flip option so the nightstand can be either side.

When I have tried to combine these something always goes wrong and I start afresh.

In the attached drawing, I used the single size as the base for combining, and that one will still flip and rotate and bring the S along correctly. But the others will not. Here I've circled the K left behind.

I suspect I’m needing a double lookup, but I don’t know where to begin with that.

I am using the 2025 version of Architecture. Interestingly, this won't let me choose that as a category for the Dynamic Blocks Forum.

I don't see anything that would require a double lookup.

I would not have a separate rotate parameter/action for each of the visibility states. Instead I would use a single rotate parameter/action to rotate all states.

The rotate action that is visible in the KING visibility state is not associated with the rotate parameter (Angle3) that is visible in that state. If you're going to have a separate rotate parameter/action in each of the visibility states, then you will avoid a lot of confusion by having them visible in that state and that state only.

The Angle3 rotate parameter is the one visible in the KING state and the Rotate2 action is the one rotate action associated with it. The Rotate2 action correctly rotates the KING bed. If you want the K to rotate along with the king bed, then add the point parameter that moves the K (Position3 - which is not visible in the KING state) to the selection set of the Rotate2 action (which is also not visible in the KING state).

Are you sure you want the flip line oriented like that? It seems to me that you would want the flip line to rotate.

I didn't delve very deeply into your block, but hopefully what I have mentioned so far is helpful. Report back if there is more you need assistance with.

Thanks for your reply.

Despite creating the blocks separately first, they seemed to revert to all components in the editor and so I really struggled with selecting which to display and not. So, in editor I had them all spread out for the selection and then recombined them to be at 0,0 at the end.

I removed the individual rotates per size and included the flip grip in the rotate for the single. Now my identifying letters are all doing something spiral.

When I had the blocks separately rotatable, they were linked as chains to the individual parameters. I assumed keeping them as chained position parameters and selecting them as they were would work. But perhaps I should have deleted those too and started afresh?

I moved the letters for the selections as I was struggling to deselect them before, but then moved them back when I saved and closed the block. It seems they might be fixed to where they were when I made the rotation actions?

I have a time crunch to get these drawings done now, so the original block with having to move the letter will be what I end up using, not my currently attached revision, but I will return to this puzzle when I have a little more downtime again.
