Proportional Stretch

Hi,

I am building a block of a door and I am adding the variables I think we may encounter, namely wall thickness and structural opening. I have managed to add the stretch command to both these, however I would like for the door length (and radius of swing) to be directly related to the structural opening, i.e. when one stretches the structural opening dimension the door length and swing would change accordingly. Is this possible?

I have attached a drawing to show what I have so far.

I didn't save it. I usually don't if I make a screencast which is a better tool for helping people learn than giving them finished blocks.

Hi Libbya,

I have managed to figure it out and I am adding a rotate action to the door. What I would like to do next is to have the dashed curve (door swing) follow the edge of the door when I open/close it. I think it require some sort of polar stretch, but I haven't figured it out yet. Could you help me?

Here's one way. Bear in mind that as you add features to your door block, it will become progressively harder to get it all to work correctly. See screencast.

Sorry, I don't get this. I think I can't activate a rotation to the stretch action (as you do from the minute -4:33 on). I don't have that yellow thunder and text, I just have an small button and cannot select it. Does anybody know what should I do?

The display of the actions and the ability to add them to the selection sets of other actions depends on the system variable BACTIONBARMODE. Set it to 0 to display the lightning bolts and to allow adding an action to another action's selection set. However, often it is not desirable to add actions to the selection sets of other actions, so if set to 0 care needs to be taken.
