I am using AutoCAD LT - 2019....I have a dynamic block that has an associative hatch element. When I insert the block into a new or existing draing the hatch loses it's association. It works in one drawing but not another. Is there a setting at the drawing file level that needs to be configured?

I attached the drawing with the "C-LS-T-ACSI" block inserted. When the block is stretched in the length direction the hatch does not behave properly. This block is behaving properly in another drawing opened with the same application.

Does your block work in a new empty file?
How about in files other than the one where it does not?

No it doesn't work in a new file and I can't get it to work in any other file. It's a bit strange but when I stretch the block in the file where it works then copy the block and paste it in a new drawing the non-associative behavior of the hatch becomes visible.

It's as if there is some setting at the file level that causes the hatch associativity to not behave as expected.

Can you show us the dwg where the block works as expected please?

I deleted in your attached dwg the hatch, created a new - and don't get it to lose its associativity (?) .

(I tested in the full version of ACAD).

cadder

Sure thing...here are the two files.

The "Working" file was created from the default autcad template file acadlt.dwt

The "NotWorking" file was created from one of my internal template files.

What's odd is the block also works in the file "604c1.0b.dwg" file which was also created from my standard template file.

Those 3 files are attached. It will only lt me attatch 3 files so I'll post a seperate reply with the template file. "dti-template-2018.dwg"

I also attached the template file. "dti-template-2018.dwg"

I can't really reproduce your problem here. Your block works well in new drawings based on my template, it works well in new drawings based on your template DTI_template-2018.dwg and it works well in your 604c1.0b.dwg.

Only in the DBlock-Hatch-NotWorking.dwg I see the problem. Obviously here is the blockdefinition damaged. (Don't ask me when and what and why). I deleted all blockreferences in this dwg, purged (removed) the blockdefinition and inserted the block again. Now it also works well in this drawing.

cadder

Additional hints:
- I would remove the hatches from the selection sets of the stretch actions. Also if the hatches not are streched, they follow the movements of its boudaries (if assoziative) .
(BTW: in your NoTWorking drawing the hatches lost their associativity, therefore it doesn't work properly).
- I would add the parameter BT to the action "Stretch".

But this has nothing to do with your current problem.

cadder
