My recommendation about inserting the dims inside the block would eliminate any need for using associative dims, so there could not be any issue with the dims becoming un-associated. Whether or not that recommendation is valid for your particular block(s) is unknown because you haven't posted the file(s).

I'm using AutoCAD 2016 as my design software for Ashley Furniture. I'm having issues with the Disassociated Annotations with my dimensions to my Rack Elevation Details. I've created Blocks and Dynamic Blocks for the Rack Elevations and after saving the work and re-associating the dimensions to my blocks again and again, the very next day, they are ALL lost and disassociated. Why does this keep occurring??? Need help to understand why and how to fix or design in a different manner.

My purpose to maintain ALL my dimensions associated with the Blocks is to easily modify and save new and/or revised Rack Elevations by simply moving my object and shelf levels to my desired elevation and all Dims follow.

Please Help!

Posting example files would benefit you.

Depending on the block, you could place the dims inside the block rather than outside the block. You can then dynamically stretch/move/rotate the dims along with the other line work and you would no longer be relying on the associative quality of the dims.

Thank you for the quick response! Good point about the dimension placements. They are ALL actually placed inside the Rack Elev Type Block - 4CA. All the Yellow Exclamation Error Marks for Disassociated Annotations are shown inside the actual block. I've attempted to fix and re-associate all the Disassociated Annotations inside the block, Purge, Save, and close the dwg out. The very next day, ALL Associated Dims are lost! I had to create each Rack Elevation Block on its own to confirm locked and saved Associated Dims for my objects. I would then open both Dwgs - my Elevations Dwg and Individual Block Dwg and use the Design Center to Redefine the Block. It would work for the day. After doing the same action for all other Elevations and close and the dwg, the very next day, they are all gone and disassociated again! Very frustrating!

I see all the non-associative dimensions but I wonder why that is an issue. If you want to most easily modify the shelf heights and keep the dims showing the proper dimensions then add the appropriate linear parameters and stretch actions and stretch the dims along with the other line work. You'd end up with an even more easily edited block and the non-associative dims would still move properly with the shelves.

I like your idea, but the majority of our Rack Elevations are very unique and custom to our Warehousing needs, so it would be tedious work to create all the linear parameters to each deck level and rack components. There may be circumstances where we will need to eliminate or add shelf levels.

But! I really like your idea......hmmmmm. Let me put some thought into it and work on 1 Rack Elevation template.

While we are on the topic of Dynamic Blocks, I have several Visibility States for each Rack Elevation. Reason being - for my section views. Some views will be 1.) Annotation View 2.) Front View, 3.) Side View - Right, 4.) Side View - Left. The Right and Left Sides are for my section views for Rack Product being loaded on the Right or Left Side. I can't mirror the Block since some of the Dynamic Blocks have Text Attributes which will flip the fonts and read backwards. So much work, to do what I need it to do!

Question about Blocks with Dynamic Blocks - If I wanted to eliminate or delete a Visibility State(s), what is the best method to do so without having left over objects? (A.) Delete the Visibility State from the Dialogue Box or (B.) Delete all objects from the Visibility State, and then delete the Visibility State name?

I modified 1 of my Rack Elevation Blocks to implement using the MIRRTEXT command, setting it Value 1. I added the Mirror Action within the Dynamic Block to eliminate 1 of the Views. It does not work for the blocks that contain text inside. Refer to attached Dwg.
