Regardless, I think this is a non-starter. I do not believe there is any dynamic parameter/action/constraint that will allow you to toggle a viewport's on/off property.

I want to know if the Off/On properties of a Viewport can be controlled in some way using DB parameters? This is being asked to control the displaying of the north arrow and bar scales on paper space sheets that don't need these entities. I don't want to erase them from the sheet, just hide them when not necessary. The north arrow and bar scales reside in an area in model space.

Nope. You can't control the on/off properties of a viewport via dynamic block. Even more easily than having them in model space and using a viewport, you could place the north arrow and scale bar in paperspace, though, and turn them on and off via visibility state.

Yeah, of course one option is to place the items on the sheets in paper space. I had something more like a VP toggle on mind.

I’ve been thinking about this and may have a plan “B”. I’m think about how part of a detail callout block that can access object properties of a viewport. Instead of accessing the scale of the viewport, I want to access the display property’s off/on, 0/1 value of the detail callout block. The DB is on paper space, would be linked to a viewport and contain a obtuse triangle (has angle has more than 90°) and a Flip parameter. When the DB block is unflipped the viewport displays the content. When the DB is flipped, the display is turned off. For design purposes, the DB could be any shape as long as flips.

I think you overthinking it. Why not simply create a layer state to freeze the layers in such viewports?

VPfreeze seems to be the most straightforward solution.

Not overthinking this. I have a valid reason for having this process as an eye-catching, conspicuous block instead of using a line command. And yes this viewport could be added to a new layer to control its visibility, but I don't want a new layers. I do appreciate the suggestions.

Can a DB's flip parameter & action can control the properties of an object?
