Add GPS coordinate to DXF file

Hello,

My client gave me a DXF file with local origin. I was wondering what would be the best way to place this DXF file in its correct position on a GPS map.

Would it be easy for him to convert the local coordinate of the DXF file in GPS coordinates with AutoCad and then give me directly this DXF file ?

Is there other alternatives ? for example I ask him for GPS coordinate for at least 2 points and then I can manage to convert myself the DFX file ?

I know that my question is little vague, should you need any other details or clarifications, please don’t hesitate.

Hi,

I just figured out that my client DXF file is already georeferenced in Lamber system so problem solved!

Let me please ask you another question: I will also need to convert my DXF files to KML or SHP.
- Does the conversion from DXF to KML or SHP is 100% ? I will not have a loss of data from DXF to KML or SHP ?
- If I were to choose, which format you suggest to convert to, KML or SHP ?
