UnSelectable Blue Square

I received a C3D dwg and I'm finding this blue square. It looks to have sides about 40,000,000 feet long, and centered on 0,0. (The other stuff you can see within the box is the project, located around x=1.4 million, y=3.9 million)

When I zoom extents I zoom out way past what I think is in the dwg, but not quite as far as the square. I found the square by accident, zooming out after I did the zoom extents.

I can't select the square. I have a LISP command that selects everything in a dwg, but using quick select after selecting everything, I can't identify anything it might be. "Weird Blue Box" wasn't one of the choices...

There isn't anything showing in the Display Manager on the Task Pane, and there are no Xrefs.

Anybody recognize this, know what it is, and maybe know how to get rid of it?

I can't post the dwg.

Type in ERASE, then at Select objects, type in ALL and hit enter. Now type in R, then hit enter and select all the objects for your project. Hit enter twice.

If you could post a file this would be interesting to see.... Not sure how you got this in a drawing., but I'd certainly take a look see....

Maybe it's a Warning symbol for an alignment or profile or corridor? Can't select those.

It looks like this. You cannot touch it or do anything with it..... -purge doesn't work. The project is located inside the orange dot

I have seen this in some files now also. even in blank templates you can switch to east or west elevation view and see the blue line.

This might be a stretch, but can you set geomarkervisibility to 0 and see what happens.

This might be a stretch, but sometimes an XREF will get blocks with clip boundaries applied to them. I don't know how or why it happens as I know they weren't created by a user. Try unloading all xrefs and see if it goes away. If yes, figure out which one it is and open it and delete all clip boundaries.

After reading the OP's size parameters I was reminded of the very first time I ran AutoCAD. This was circa 1983 version 1.2. There was a full-scale universe dwg, well at least between the Earth and the Moon where you could zoom 239,000 miles into the moon and from there zoom a bit more to see a 3d model of the lunar module and if that was not enough IIRC you could zoom down to a plaque describing the first landing. It was definitely a mind blower when you had to grasp all this was happening on a 10" CRT monitor! Prior to that everything I drafted was on paper and scale meant WYSIWYG.

Just noticed there are no XREf's per the original post. Looks like a file is needed to diagnose.

Then again, there could be xclipped blocks in the live dwg ad well. Try running xclip with delete option.

It was the Solar System. The drawing was Solar.dwg

@jmartt If nothing else works. WBlock all you're entities out and insert the drawing created by the WBlock in a new drawing created from your template.

Make sure you select the individual entities and Don't WBlock the whole drawing.

Try command frames, 1 and frames, 0. It definitely looks like an x-clipped block as @Neilw_05 indicates. If it was scaled up afterwards it can get to be huge.

Once was a drafter here who created those constantly. I never did find out exactly how, but he would select everything and do an xclip. And even more fun, he would copy and paste them as blocks. The copy those blocks and paste as blocks. The xclip again, then copy and paste as blocks again and again, etc.
