I want to create an alignment and profile from the feature line. Since this
feature line has new ground elevations I can use that as my new ground
levels.

Hi guys. I prepared a design profile based on a ground profile from a C3D surface. Before construction I was provided with ground levels which carry significantly from the surface center line route. I do want to plot a different center line ground elevation how do I go about it.

Hi @tonderaitmaworera, if you were provided with a new surface, sample that surface again. If not, create a feature line/3D Polyline that follows your new levels (points, for instance) and project it on your already created profile view. Let me know if I understood what you want to achieve, please. If not, please post an image or your file to able to understand and help you.

Depending on how many new PVIs you have, you can create a new profile and, on Profile Creation Tools toolbar, use Insert PVIs - Tabular. This lets you type in Station and Elevation for each PVI.

If there are many PVIs, you can use Create Profile from File: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/civil-3d/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2017/ENU/Civil3D-UserGuide/files/GUID-AF19F4B5-EF6D-43D3-9334-75B6EA6794AA-htm.html

Be sure you read about the required formatting for these files: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/civil-3d/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2017/ENU/Civil3D-UserGuide/files/GUID-58F36650-6B76-4449-BF49-A7899B6F8320-htm.html

Hi,

If you update the new elevations on the surface it will automatically update the surface as well as surface profile.

If you have a point code for CL level you can;

create a new point group--> Select points --> Delete existing points --> Add new points--> Add points to surface

Thanks

Hi. I did the exercise as you mentioned and it worked. I do want to
generate a profile section of the natural ground based on that feature
line. How do I go about it?
Draw an alignment following the same path that the feature line has, create the sample lines, and then draw the section views. Make sure you sample all the origins that you need to show in the section views. My regards!

Once you have it, trace a new layout profile following the geometry of the feature line 🙂
