points visible only in conceptual view

Only points are visible in object viewer.

Same in conceptual and realistic view.

I want to see the surface.

You have to edit the surface style. Go to the Display tab and make sure that the layer state is set to Model (3D views) and set the layer display to however you want.

Please confirm if the Triangles are visible in the Surface Style.

even after making triangle visible, i face the same issue. Initially when i click on object viewer, the surface is visible. As soon as i try to pan or rotate the surface vanishes and only points are visible.

Hi @pics.munmun

I would check the display drivers are up to date

In the Windows taskbar search bar, type Device Manager
find and expand the display driver, right-click and check for updates.

Also from the 3DCONFIG command, test turning Hardware acceleration off.

If possible to post the drawing, it would help a lot!

You do not have any Civil 3D points in the drawing. When you go to object viewer it shows the surface with surface points that are used when triangulating.

To view these points in the model space you can watch this video.

Somewhere in the middle, it shows how to turn on surface points through the display tab.

OK, you have three different surfaces using three different styles.

_No Display has nothing at all turned on in Model view display.

Border Only_Existing has only Triangles turned on in Model view display.

Border Only has only Points turned on in Model view display.

So my question is - Are you editing the right surface style to set the display state how you want it?

About styles - styles can be shared or used by more than one AEC object, surfaces, points, alignments, profile views, etc. etc. etc. You do not need a unique surface style for every surface in the drawing. Generally you will find two categories - existing and proposed. Each category might have a few variations, usually having to do with the contour interval displayed. Your two proposed surfaces I would have used *one* proposed surface style. Ditto on existing, but an existing surface style.

About contour intervals. You've had issues developing these surfaces. Typically, if you really want to see where it's really wacked turn the contour interval to 0.1.

Have you followed through any surface tutorials? You're doing well, but heading off in the wrong direction in ways. Bad habits are hard to break later. Your questions are about the basics - I would take the time to learn before getting too far down the line. Will your model be used in a GPS dozer to build the project? Dirt is expensive to move and if it is wrong it's your neck that is about to get wrung. Tell your boss you need time to learn the software ... sorry for the opinions. I don't like to see you struggle with the rudimentary surface building concepts.

I recorded a short screencast to demonstrate the settings necessary in the Surface Style. To view the Surface in object viewer, we must ensure the Surface style applied has at least one component visible in the Plan view direction in addition to the Triangles component is visible in the Model view direction.
