COGO Point with two surface elevations?

I am trying to assign two different surface elevations to one COGO Point. Is there any way to do this? My goal would be to display both elevations (let's say EG and FG) in the Point Data Table.

The "Point Elevation" field (green rectangle below) reads the surface values from the EG Surface.

I have created an User-Defined Property with Elevation Format (red rectangles) hoping that this field would be able to read the elevation values from the FG surface, but I can't find any way to make it happen. Could someone offer any advice please?

The Dynamic Linking in the Sincpac-C3D add-on package makes this a snap to accomplish. If the FG surface changes, the point UDP will update as well.

My question is: why do you need to use a COGO point label? Can you use a block, spot label (or other)?

Hi Neil,

I am working with a very long retaining wall; it will consist of over 150 piles, and lagging. At each pile I have a COGO point. I need to create a table with Pile Data (showing northing, easting, STA, elevations, etc.) - it would be nicer to show all the data within the table rather than some data in the table, and some as labels on plan view (plan view is pretty crowded already). I have surfaces for the "Top Pile Elev" and "Bot Lagging Elev" and now I need my COGO points to "store" those elevation data (so I can show those elevations in the table). Thanks for reading!

@Neilw_05, Trust me I tried multiple avenues with this similar scenario and if it wasn't for @Jeff_M saving the day with DL I would be SCREWED. I'm a stickler, I don't try to use a 3rd party solution for something I think it should be available (No offence @Jeff_M . ) But sometimes we have to BEND THE KNEE for the end goal. IMO the DL should have been integrate long ago, as with many things Sincpac does........

I have no doubt Sincpac is a worthwhile investment. This is a good case for a custom tool. I do like the challenge of finding a workaround (sometimes). I'll give it some thought.

I'm a fan of using Pipe network structures for this type of table. style accordingly (like a cogo point) completely dynamic and easy to include other parameters

Rim/ reference surface… same as if it were a pipe network . Particularly station offset . Can’t get that OOTB with cogo points

That gives you the top point elevation. What about the lower point elevation?

I'm thinking an alignment with a PI at each pile. That gives coordinates and surface elevations at the piles. How to get that into the table is not clear. I haven't spent time on that. The table would need to be hybrid to include the point numbers, unless stations are an acceptable alternative.

OK, I gotta ask. How did you get the Bottom Lagging Surface? And what is the relationship between the elevation difference of the 2 surfaces and the Length column?
Can you post your drawing? It would be fun to see if Dynamo could handle the job.

reference surface . He has two surfaces ? I have done it many times. Anytime I see a table needed with Station offset I go with pipe network work around. Plus very east to add custom parameters to structures to accept myriad data

My Bad. I thought I used a secondary surface in an expression before in the table. I can get it in the structure label but not the table

OK, here's my low-tech OOTB solution. Combine 3 Point Groups in Excel:
1. Points 101-251+: Elevations from Top Surface, Description is Pile Number.
2. Points 1001-1251+: Elevation from Bottom Surface.
3. Points 2001-2251+: Points from Alignment, each pile is a PI. (Neil's idea)

Match rows in Excel, winnow columns to condense, then bring into AutoCAD as a Table. Bam! Done! Of course it won't be dynamic.

If we export an alignment with profiles to landxml, we get the data in text form. I don't know if the report tools could be used to generate a table either from an XML file or better yet, direct from the alignment in the dwg. Anyone work with the report tools in depth?

Every ootb solution is going to be convoluted. Just get the custom tool and move on. I'm dropping out of this one. 😞

Hi @Neilw_05 and @Pointdump . In the @Katarzynha screen shot the length of lagging is a constant. it this is the case then the expression is simple.

Revit
