Does anyone knows how to select gogo points (or create a point group), for example, the points are above (higher) than a surface...

I tried the "quick select" command but did not find anything suitable.

Project Exporer can do this by selecting "compare to".

For anyone who does not have access to the Project Explorer (because of not having the Autodesk AEC collection), this functionality is included in DotSoft's C3DTools.

Hi Terry,
I keep hearing that Project Explorer and Grading Optimization can only be installed in the AEC Collection, but I've got both PE and GO in my Civil 3D 2023. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't have, and have never had, the AEC Collection.

I've only ever installed "Standalone" Civil 3D. Right now I have 2022 and 2023.

If you made Surface from the points in question and then created a Volume Surface comparing the surfaces. Then make a cut/fill map. Any points that fall in the cut areas will be above the original surface. You'd have to select them to add them to a Point Group.

Getting a little off topic, but to provide a little clarity. If you have access to a license of AEC, you can install PE and GO and they will run, you dont have to install from the AEC to do that.

If you have a standalone subscription of Civil 3D only, you can install PE and GO, but they will give you licensing errors when you try to run them.

Allen Jessup has the right idea but it can be simplified.

Create a volume surface to establish cut/fill conditions. Use the Elevation from Surface tool to set the COGO point elevations to the volume surface. Any points with elevation <0 are in cut relative to the base surface and vice versa.

You can filter the points even further based on the relative distance above or below a surface. Create point groups with criteria for elevation ranges (ie. z>0 & <=1, z >1 & <=2, etc).
