Create custom Leader and Border Types

Hi All,

I am trying to create a custom leader/border type for dynamic alignment labels. I see where you have have line/spline leaders and rectangle, circle, etc. border types, but I am wanting to create some kind of custom dynamic border/leader for a cloud-type label. I'm sure not incredibly simple but does anyone have any experience creating those custom components.

You might be able to achieve your goal using a dynamic block but I don't believe you'll be able to do what your wanting with alignment labels/C3D objects.

You may not get the exact requirement here.

But when you watch this you will see where to insert a block in to label.

But you need to position it correctly later.

I can get you pretty close, @mdogfizzle.

These are 2 "Note" label styles.

Cloud box is more straightforward, but you may like the look of "Cloud" better.

Both use a modified version of the TREELINE_R line type from AeccLine.lin.

Precisely what kind of label are you working with?

It would be beneficial if you posted a sample drawing to work with.

I do not have time to document this right now.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting. If I understand you correctly, you'd like to have a different type of Label border, example cloud type instead of continuous line.

I agree with @ChrisRS, you can perhaps play with the linetype.

If you're trying to change the border within label style composer (so you can keep the labels dynamic and consistent), you're not going to be able to. I submitted a bit ago to allow more customization of the label style composer akin to mleader styles since we have that issue where the DOT labels for structures/pipes require an ellipse but you can only do a rectangle, rounded rectangle, or circle.

Yes you can, but the data your text shows does not appear to relate to alignment only.

Lets just talk about a label style.

build the style with components for each and the cloud is defined as a block and added as a component. all the other components will need to define x,y offsets to sit in the cloud properly.

you can take some of the guess work out of the xy offsets by making a label template ( NOT A DWT) the geometry in your image will do. assume the cloud pointer is 0,0 , id the insertion points of each component and you have it

@Joe-Bouza , I have a similar situation but I already have my label created but I need a leader like the one you are using in this photo. can you please point me in the right direction to begin creating this?

That's not my leader, it is from the OP. I would create this as a block to add a s a component. My response #9 explains further
