CSV Format

I am trying to import a point file that has long and lat not a format I've had to deal with yet so I made a new point file format.

when trying to use the new format it says does not match point file format but the previewer is showing everything is correct.

I upload CSVs daily without issue.

is there a trick to uploading in a long lat format? or is there something deeper at play I am missing here?

Check decimal dilimter in CSV file. Or is it possible to share your CSV file.

Is there also a hidden gotcha where, if you have the .csv file open in Excel then C3D will refuse to import it? It's been a while since I've used it, but I recall that there's no specific error message telling you to close the file. C3D will just report the operation failed with no reason given.

Hi,

First thing uncheck do coordinate transformation if possible.

Second export yours xlsx file format from Iexcel to csv. Then open your csv in notepad an check it . Coma should be delimiter and decimal delimiter should be point. If you have head column titles , remove it.

Save it as csv file. Then try to import it in civil.

There is no header and it is an .CSV

and it opens in notepad in the correct format. still will not work in civil

And also, try to save csv file as txt file using notepad. And create new point file format for importing in civil 3d using txt file. And try this way to import points. When you create ne file forma tray parsing on your txt file

Ok. The problem is in your file format it is not created . You need to name all.colimns

Number, lat, long, elevation

just click on column name end pic k it. For all columns you have in csv .

my apologies as I have not found a format that works yet I am creating a new one every time and will save once it is successful.

When the naming schematic is done correctly I still am unable to upload so I assumed that was not where my restriction was.

here is a screenshot with the names correct done with the previous shared format.

You'll need to assign a coordinate system before using a point file with Lats and Longs. Your point file format needs to be "DECDEG Lats" and "DECDEG Longs".

This is for sure because csv file was saved from excel. Please try with txt file created from notepad and with file format for import created for txt.
