Importing SDF

Hi,

I am working on a new scheme and we have been provided historic as built data for the drainage on site. This data has been provided in the format .SDF, I have tried mapimport and HEC RAS Import but neither have worked. When using mapimport I get an error stating that the the file is not an SDF file or is from an unsupported version. When using HEC RAS Import I get an error stating that the file was not created through HEC RAS export.

Any help on how to use these files would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Keanan,
Have you tried using MAPCONNECT? (Drag-n-Drop the SDF into your drawing.)

Hi @keananwaters

Did you assign an appropriate coordinate system to your drawing?

Assuming you have been sent a properly formatted SDF you have two options.

OPTION 1:

Enter MAPCONNECT on commandline=>Add SDF Connection=>Browse to SDF=>Open=>Add to Map. See image-1.
Open the Map Task Pane (MAPWSPACE)=>Still on command line, select ON. See image-2.
The Map Task Pane is where you control the SDF's style (the style you develop controls the SDF's appearance). It also allows you to open the Table View (where you can see the data attributes in rows and columns). See image-3.

OPTION 2:

Use the MAPIMPORT command to import your SDF.
