Thanks Mark. Good suggestion, and the off featurelines are not able to be edited, which is great, but the grip for them still shows up and makes the desired line more difficult to select to edit. The goal is to be able to make the edit without having to navigate unwanted grips.

When editing featurelines, how do I stop from being able to select featurelines that are turned off? I only want to be able to select featurelines that are turned on for modification.

I'm not 100% positive I understand the question. If you have a feature line (or any other object) on a layer that is off, it is still selectable. If you freeze the layer you won't be able to select it.

I have long wished that Autocad had an 'unhittable' property where I could see it but not select it. But it isn't there yet.

You may also want to look at Sites. They allow you to put feature lines in different "containers" that do not interact. While editing you can select which site you want to edit.

Correct. The layer is off but when I try to modify a different featureline on a different layer, that is on, using the "Quick Elevation Edit" tool, the line that is off is editable. I will try to post a screen shot.

I think what you want is to set the site to edit. See the command line
