I installed the IFC4.3 extension for Civil 3D. Is it possible to set the rotation of the IFC Base Point? In my opinion I can only set the xy position of the IFC Base Point...

Hi Tatiana,

Thank you for replying to this post, but this doesn't answer our question just yet. I am a colleague of Ruth and will try to elaborate on te problems we are having.

We are a civil engineering firm and we work in civil3d. Our projects are alligned to the local coordinate system of our project. We are based in The Netherlands, so we mostly use 'Amersfoort-RD'.

In most projects we work for architectural firms that design and construct a building and hire us to do the terrain around the building. These firms do not work with a coördinate system as we do, they work with a basepoint, usually some x,y distance from a corner of the building.

So we are looking for the best way to allign these two models in an IFC export. The IFC4x3 plugin allows for a basepoint to be picked, but that doens't adjust hight or rotation. Changing the UCS doesn't change anything either.

How would you align the models without drastically having to alter the civil3D drawing?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Tatiana,

You can find the dummy file attached. In this file I'd like to export the pipe networks and surface by using the IFC 4.3 Add-in. The drawing is georeferenced to a Dutch coordinate system. For exporting to IFC I already set the IFC Base Point to the desired base point = red block on 0.0 (similar to 0.0 in UCS 'nulpunt'). The only issue that remains is that I'd set the rotation according to the green block that is also postioned at 0.0.

Do you know how to solve this?
