Hi.

I have a circular alignment (circle), generated with and aligment with an arc entity (fixed entity) with Radius and Center.

Is the same result if you would made a Roundabout.

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-civil-3d/getting-started/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2015/ENU/Civil3D-Tutorials/files/GUID-C4C1A0DA-F5DD-43D1-BF5B-B22EB7AA0D6E-htm.html

Then, I try to change the location of the start station on the same alignment.

To do this, I show the mean label stations alignment.

The first time, the start station "0+000" always apear in the East.

I use the AutoCAD command "rotate"---->Reference, pick to points and I have the sation labels in the new location.

However, the Corridor Surface is not generated, and also, if I save the drawing file with this settings, and close Civil 3D, the next time that I open the drawing file, The start station in the circle alignment becomes again in the default location (East).

station is PK in Spanish.

The green text means the properly location for the start station of the circular alignment. ( I can rotate the alignment, but the next time, Civil 3D automatically returns the default location if you open the drawing file).

Instead of rotating, try to set the reference point.

Actually - take that back... dumb response. You end up with negative stations.

I just tested the rotation on a blank file. It's working here - even after save and reopen.

I rotated the alignment 90degrees. Labels updated. Saved. Reopened. Looks fine.

Is the alignment DREF'd into the drawing? I could see that changing on open....

How about instead of setting the reference point X & Y, you change the station instead? Just type what you want the station to be for the location that is currently 0+000.

I disagree. I've attached two drawings for you to test.

TestCircleAlignment1 has the 0 station in the bottom quadrant. TestCircleAlignment2 has been rotated by -90 so the 0 station is in the left quadrant. Stations read correctly. Modify a radius and it reads correctly. Save, close, and reopen and it works.

No setting that I know of. Is your alignment DREF'd into the drawing?

Any chance you can share your file and I can take a look?

I will say that if you have a design profile and corridor referencing this alignment, those objects may need to be adjusted after rotating.

Hi.

Sorry for the delay.

It happens with an empty drawing file (only contains this alignment) with Civil 3D 2014 and 2015 in Clockwise direction and reverse. Always is wrong when you re-open the drawing file. File loses the last rotation of the circular alignment. (if I change the Radius, save and re-open the file,...).

I have tried with another files , another circular alignments, .. and it always happens the same.

My Civil 3D is Spanish language in both releases. (both have SP2).

I have drawn the start station with a poliline and the direction before save the drawing.

If you open the drawing you should watch this:

But I get again the default orientation: in the bottom East ,it starts the first station. (0+000).

It would be very important to solve this, because in the roundabouts, currently I have to create more regions that they are innecesary if I could rotate the alignment.

Thanks for your interest.

I haven't got the properly answer because it is a bug of Civil 3D. 4 friends mines tested this with the same result. (drawing file doesn't keep the start station location the next time that the file is re-opened). One of my friends was using an English version.
please, Autodesk staff check this.

There is no issue about the language version, because a friend mine was using The English version one with the same issue.

The trouble is about the label station style and the units(for the frequency).

I´m using "meters" for frecuency, and I think you are using foots (perhaps this is the trouble).

My format station is 0+000.000, not 0+00, perhaps this is the trouble.

I will carry on researching if I finally find out the properly format.

I hope I can use your format for only one alignment. (in this case, for the circular alignments).

I created a circular aligment with only one entity (an arc entity with "center and Radius").

I see that you created the circular alignment with two arcs entities. I am secure that this is the reason but right now I check it.

SOLVED!

you are using 2 arcs (across 3 points) to create the circular alignment. This method works fine!

With my method, only one arc (center and radius) doesn´t work if you rotate the alignment.

Interesting. I didn't think to attempt that method. I'm not sure why your method would make a difference, but good to know.

Autodesk staff should check this, because if you create an automatic roundabout, the circle alignment is like my method (an arc with center and Radius), so you would had to change those alignments. However, I think that the objects generated with automatic roundabout are dynamic with other objects.

If you change the radius of the roundabout or change the direction of the intersected alignment, the roundabout is automatically calculated in plant.

In this scenario, the automatic roundabout should generate circular alignments with 2 arcs instead of only one.
