Hi friends,

I really needs to make the embankment (EW) on devided layers, like 0.25m thick, to extract the offset and elevation of each layer for the surveyors.

So can anybody help me on this matter.

Very thanks

WIN 10, CIVIL 3D 2014 (64x), 8 Gb RAM

I would like to understand your question. When you say "make the embankment" do you mean make a surface? and when you say "on divided layers" do you mean you need another surface 0.25 meters deeper?

I am still confused by what you want here. You want two surfaces for Finished Grade. One that is your "normal finished grade" and one that is .25 m deeper? If you have your finished grade already in place just drop the elevation by the amount you want.

Run the Compute Materials to do the earthwork calcualtions from your datum to the EG. Then assign an appropriate hatch scale, rotation to the style. It won't be lines, but the hatches should give you the desired look. If you want them as lines then explode the object two or three times to get the linework.

Subassembly Composer won't work for this in Civil 3D 2014 since it doesn't have the ability to do loops, with Subassembly Composer 2016 I think they did add loop support so you could probably create the lines within the corridor using to get the look you are looking for. You'd need some marked points to get the Hinge Point, daylight slope, and then use that information to get your limits. Then you'd simply loop through each layer until you reached the end.

If I had to do this I think it would be best done in .NET to create your own custom subassembly (or hire someone to write it for you) and then have it programatically follow the datum, hit the daylight slope, and add the link and point codes you need.

I'm a little confused here. You're trying to extract survey data to define offset & elevation or x,y,z values at the locations where the layers intersect the design fill slopes - correct? Why is it necessary to create individual surfaces for this?

I would probably do it with a separate assembly and corridor, run on the same baseline as the current design. The logic would go something like this:

Starting at the Datum elevation on the corridor baseline, if the distance to original ground is greater than 0.25 then add a LinkVertical to move down 0.25m then a LinkSlopeToSurface at 0% targeted to the FG surface from the original design.

Repeat this until the distance to original ground is less than 0.25

This assembly should allow you to create featurelines down the face of the proposed fill slope to the daylight line. Where it's not going to work is the area where centerline is below the daylight. For that you will have to create several multi-condition tests:

Starting from the baseline - you have to test the relative vertical distance to OG AND to the daylight line.

If you are above both then add a LinkSlopeToSurface with zero slope, targeted to the FG from the original design.

If you are above OG but below the daylight then add a LinkSlopeToSurface with zero slope, targeted to OG (this scenario would happen in the sample pic that you posted)

If you are below OG but above daylight then you need two copies of LinkSlopeToSurface. The first one is targeted to the OG surface with the Omit Link option turned on. The second is targeted to the FG surface.

If you are below both then stop.

To finish - move down 0.25m and restart this sequence from the start.

It would probably be easier to do this one using SAC.

Steve
Please use the Accept as Solution or Kudo buttons when appropriate

Thanks Mr. Sboon for your concern,

Firstly I need to assure for your understanding my request, yes you are right that what I want, for your asking why ?? this because many reasons, always our surveyor need the (Station-offset-elevation) method, also the consultant need to check the works of filling by GPS data sometimes, finally we have some sub-contractors those we need to knows where they were stoped thier works to finish the quantities calculations.

About your logic methods, for my condition (as usual in our fill work is 0.25m layer thick) I will use one of these ways which is:

If you are above OG but below the daylight then add a LinkSlopeToSurface with zero slope, targeted to OG.

I will try to do this subassembly by myself, if I do it then it will be easly to make data sheet for site for desired area, and I will be in touch with you and other guys to confirm this one.

I hope you exact understanding me and be smile.

Thanks and best wishes.
