Sections-Automatically Generate Surveyed Points

Hello,

I am creating sections for a slope revetment- design/as-built. I have as-built surveyed shots shot at 10m stations. Is there a way to automatically generate these shots to show in the sections, rather then manually inputing the shots in the sections by offseting the alignment to the shot location and placing an elevation label at the offset point?

Without more information or a sketch, it sounds like the _AeccProjectObjectsToMultiSect command (used to project the as built points to multiple section views) might help? The projection view style can be modified to suit your needs.

I would make the As-built surface, add it to your section group with a different style, to differentiate.

Hello,

Thanks for your input . I have an excavation surface, bedding, riprap, armour stone I want to show the surface points in the sections. I have been doing this manually by ofsetting from the 0 to the survey points and placing a label. Could you elaborate on how to automatically generate these points using styles?

Can you please post a sketch, showing what you're wanting to do?

One of the existing cross sections with the desired end result "as built" content applied.

Ok I have attached a final product. The design is in there with the blue dashed line as the grade tolerance, the elevations are on the as-built lines for the section. I have been manually ofsetting from the 0 point using field notes and placing a elevation label on the asbuilt line at the offset. Can CAD automatically generate these offsets and elevations?

If the survey information is available in a point file you should have a couple of options.

Create a surface of these points as Joe mentioned and sample that surface in the same sample group.

Then apply section view grade break labels at desired locations.

Create Cogo Points by importing the survey and use the _AeccProjectObjectsToSect command to project the cogo points to section views.

Awesome. Thanks a lot. The _Aecc command worked I changed the point label style to elevation only, but it is not showing. Do I control the point labels for these another way?

The projections use a projection label style once points are projected to the section views.

Once added to section views > select the section view > Rt. click > Section View Properties > Projections Tab.

Manage any projection style changes here.

I would like a similar size marking with the elevation text the same as the previous sample. See attachment for what the command produced. I changed the point style and label style to no avail.

To go directly to the Section View projection label styles:

Settings Tab of Toolspace > Section View > Label Styles > Projection >

Sorry to bother you again. Could you give me a quick run down of how to add a elevation label through the settings tab. Tryed it and nothing came up. What do I set my anchor component to....feature? and projection elevation? tried this it didn't produce anything.

Sorry, I thought you were following.

Backing up a little bit, what's important to understand is the AeccProjectObjectsToMultiSect command will place multiple cogo points to multiple section views.

Settings tab of toolspace won't place them, just is where the style is organized.

If you've never used the projection styles I'll guess it's defaulting to the "standard" style.

Create a label as you want it by going to the "Layout" tab in style (see below).

Then to specify your favorite projection style to be applied when using AeccProjectObjectsToMultiSect command, go to Command Settings at very bottom of Section View collection on settings tab of toolspace. Choose ProjectObjectsMultiSect > Default Styles > Projection Style

Now you've set the default style to be applied.

Other than making sure all layers are thawd and on, it's hard to say without seeing your dwg.

Yes all layers are thawed I have resorted to putting offset elevation labels maually in takes about the same amount of time. The point location was consuming the most time and you solved that problem for me. Thank you so much for your help. It is greatly appreciated.
