good afternoon,

i would like to know how to prevent the ecessive amount of layers that automatically load whenever i select a tab to create a new drawing. the layes auot-populate in my layer properties managerand make it very difficult to navigate to my created layers as well as use the dxf or dwg for any other application.

Welcome to the forums, Matthew! Those layers are all contained in the Drawing Template that you have set as your QNew dwt. Edit the DWT to contain only those layers you want/use.

Just to add, those layers exist because they are defined in the various pre-made Styles in which the relevant objects will be placed in. So if you don't want a certain layer, you'd have to find the styles that are using that layer; else you won't be able to delete the layer.

Additional to a layer being tied to a style, there are predefined Object Layers. Go to Toolspace, right click Edit Drawing Settings, Object Layers tab to view these layers.

Also to add wat others have said. A quick way to remove all of those layers is to use the merge layer command and send them all to 0. This will retain the styles ab place everything on layer 0 within the styles. Aduit the drawing after doing this several times to remove errors.

Thanks Jeff, I created a copy from template, then I delete all layers with LAYERDEL command (except layer 0) and work perfectly.

Those layers must exist in the template if they are referenced by styles and settings.
