restarted civil3d, and have audited the drawing, base files and service packs were installed months ago.

still not working. . . .

my best guess - the alignment was laid out using the tangent and radii set.

why ?

i don't know why, other then the usual let person X do this, (even though person X does not understand aligments, or roadway design)

ok, so how to kill the tangent - radii setup? with out stating over?

thanks

nonbeard13

I've noticed this on occasion when creating alignments by object - it will lock the vertices - I believe you can go into the geometry editor and unlock them. (Don't quote me on that)

ok, already did that. same as before.

MY SOLUTION:

1. select the alignment

2. using the geometric editor - break the alignment (about 50+ feete from the beginning)

3. using the break option - delete all but the first 50+ feet of the alignment

4. using the geometric editor - re-draw the alignment (where you want it)

best part - since you kept part of the original alignment - the profile will regenerate. (some savings)

problems - you have to work on the corridor

thank you AutoDesk and Civl3d for being so UN-CIVIL.

nonbeard

I agree with your statment - i have a negative view of Civil3d,

as the industry cad standard, used world wide .

it shoud be failsafe. and yes that is a LOT to ask from a computer program,

considering the different computer systems, components, users, training, and manuals

being very fair, i wrote so many "how to's" for LDD at two engineering companiesm

and had a non-cad user proof them and then test them.

takes a while to get it right - but the end result is GOLDEN.

civil3d should be so much better,

and not need a billion styles to make it look right.

LDD and autocad were useable right out of the box,

you really cannot do that with Civil3D, everything has to be setup and

so much is not clearly documented. WHY?

manuals that are printed, so you can read the manual and learn. . . . .

this is getting very long. and i am very tired of hearing about styles.

too may companies throw us under the bus and then wonder why production dies.

so, i have to adapt and keep learning on my time. ,.. . . . ..

civil3d was ment to be so much better than LDD, really?

dynamic is ok, but you have to assign the work to the person who understands how to make the program work correctly.

otherwise, you have trash and more problems than solutions.

train empolyees or wish you had; the owners never understand that.

thank you, Jay for correcting my poor attitude.

nonbeard13

Charles A.

I had this same issue, I then realize that the alignment was being referenced in from another drawing, SO.. after i promoted it I was able to use the grips to edit the geometry. This is why its a good practice to keep things like that in a seperate DWG
