Trim Command

Everything time that I try to use the trim command, the file gets frozen. I changed the trimextendmode to 0, based on the suggestion on the Autocad webpage , but it is not working.

Is this a recent issue? Have you updated AutoCAD / Civil 3D recently? Does it happen to a certain dwg file only / or all files you open?

The cad is updated. I had this issue in the past with other files.

I am not sure what your problem is. If it is happening all the time on all drawings then your AutoCAD might be broken and need reinstalling. If it happens occasionally on complex drawings then this isn't completely abnormal. Asking Civil 3D to go and find all objects that intersect with a line can cause instability. I have mostly replaced TRIM with the BREAK command instead as this command is more stable. Try the break command and see if it is an acceptable workaround.

I have had this happen when trimming a very long 3d polyline with multiple vertices. It takes a long time to calculate "something" but eventually gets there.

What exactly are you trimming?

Can you post a file?

I found the solution. Set the COMMANDPREVIEW system variable to 0 (zero)

that would help when trimming large things like multi-vertice polylines etc

I noticed you never mentioned what you were trimming...
