topic image not visible in Civil 3D Forum

I created a drawing for a consultant and added an aerial photo. When he opens it, the image shows briefly in the preview but just looks like a white square in the drawing. There is a datum set in the drawing and the 'image' seems to be in the correct place, but just as a blank square.

I created the drawing in AutoCAD civil3D 2014 and inserted the image with raster design. The consultant doesn't not have civil 3d or raster design and gets an error that the image is not supported . the image is a .tif and I sent along the .tfw file as well. As I mentioned it seems to know where it should be located. Just can't see it. the consultant is also using 2014.

any ideas out there? any help is much appreciated. I've tossed every idea out there I could to him.

the proxy enabler got the image visible but the scale was way off. it came in huge. I think the issue is that the consultant has only AutoCAD, no AutoCAD map or raster design. the drawings are not understanding each other . Anyone know of a way I could help him? I've given it all I've got Captains

Sounds like a compression issue, sir:

1] convert the TIFF file to JPEG

2] change the worldfile extension from TFW to JGW

3] in an empty drawing, load the .JPG file thru the _MAPIINSERT command

Did not work with a jpeg either. I think it is because the user I sent it to does not have AutoCAD map. Just plain AutoCAD

Erin Haggith
Engineering Assistant
Public Works Engineering
104 W.

You'll probably have to draw a polyline over the image frame. Detach the image then insert it like you didn't have Map of Civil 3D and orient it using the pline.
