Hi:

I have a surface in my drawing that was created by reference from Data Shortcut option in the Toolspace. Now I am trying to create a Data Shortcut using this surface -I do not know if it is possible-.

I do right click in Data Shortcuts and select Create Data Shortcuts I ended in a window where my surface is not available.

If it is not possible to create a Data Shortcut with this surface, how is possible to find the original Surface-Data Shortcut so I can make it available for other drawings -which is what I need-

To make your life easier, I am sending a .png file so you have a better idea what the problem is.

Thanks

RM

Promote the surface and then you can create the data shortcut.

To Promote a surface, right click on the surface name in Prospector. You will see Promote as an option.

If you are trying to track down the original source, in C3D 2016 there is a new "Manage Data Shortcuts" tool. Go to MANAGE tab -> DATA SHORTCUTS panel -> MANAGE DATA SHORTCUTS. The window that opens shows data shortcuts in your current drawing. Click on data shortcut in question, then look below for PATH and SOURCE FILE name. What might be even tricker is finding the original working folder and project folders which point to all the data shortcuts in the project. GL!

If you highlight the Surface heading under toolspace, the grid view at the bottom of the toolspace lists the paths to all the source files for the data shortcut surfaces. see attached.
